Located approximately 600 km from Cape Town, Oom Benna's makes a perfect stopover for those en route to Namibia, the Kgalagadi, or Botswana. When booked in advance, we guarantee exclusive use of the entire property.

Oom Benna's is conveniently situated less than 1 km off the R27 between Kenhardt and Brandvlei, with Brandvlei just 15 km to the south. (See Contact Us for a map.)

The farmhouse is fully equipped for self-catering with a gas stove, gas geyser, solar-powered lights, fridge and braai facilities. Bedding and bath towels are provided for up to 12 guests.

Campers have access to shower facilities, a small sitting room and a scullery for washing dishes. There is also an optional extra room with three bunk beds available for campers—please note that bedding is not provided for this option.

Yes! We provide free WiFi for all our guests. You can stay connected during your stay at Oom Benna's and share your countryside experiences with friends and family.

Brandvlei is the nearest town (15 km). It's a very small Karoo dorpie, so don't expect big-city conveniences. There you'll find a few shops including a bakery, butchery, a cafe with 24 hour fuel, an Agricultural Cooperative and a liquor store. "Die Windpomp" Restaurant serves delicious food. Note that braai packs and wood are available at Oom Benna's on request at an extra fee. The closest Checkers is in Upington, about 240 km away, so be sure to stock up before you arrive.

Mountain biking, picnicking in the dry riverbeds of the Sak River, stargazing, hiking and birding. Look out for the Red Lark, which is endemic to the area and Sclater's Lark. (See our bird guide).

Verneukpan is about 80km from here.

Bring your swimsuit along. We have a concrete reservoir which we clean in the summer for cooling down.
